Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme, Shittu argued that the much-hyped “Obi factor” would have little or no impact on the polls.

> “If you know the amount of votes that will be coming from even the South East for APC, you’ll be shocked,” Shittu stated confidently.

According to him, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been making inroads into the region, with Works Minister Dave Umahi and other political leaders playing key roles in shifting loyalties towards President Tinubu.

“Even the people from the South East, with the efforts of people like Dave Umahi and so many others, a lot of people are getting convinced to come the Tinubu route,” Shittu explained.

When asked about the influence of Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Shittu dismissed it outright.

> “It doesn’t matter. What is important is for Tinubu to win. Even if to win by 10 votes, I can assure you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to win,” he asserted.
