2027 presidency: PDP’s southern zoning start of party’s revival – Laolu Akande

Laolu Akande, former spokesman to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday said the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to zone its presidential ticket to the South is an indication that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was right.

Akande stated that PDP’s zoning of its presidential ticket to the South marks the beginning of the party’s resurrection.

Speaking during Channels Television’s programme, Inside Sources, Akande said the North cannot produce successors, stressing that power must rotate to the South.

Akande said: “The PDP has now resolved to bold to zone the presidency to the South, Nyesom Wike is right because it seems to be a late decision but better late than never.

“The idea that eight years will go to the North, eight will go to the South in its consensus of rotational presidency is something that everyone in the political scene ought to keep faithful to.

“We can’t have a situation where eight years of the North is followed by another eight or four years from the North, it’s just not fair.

“So kudos to PDP for coming back to common sense. I dare say that this move by the PDP to zone the presidency to the South for 2027 is the beginning of the resurrection of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
