Speaking on Friday, Tambuwal described the effort as a “national consensus”, dismissing suggestions that it was a northern agenda.
> “I am fully involved in a process — democratically and lawfully — that will end, by the grace of God, in sending this government out of office,” Tambuwal said.
“Is Peter Obi from Northern Nigeria? Is Aregbesola not from Osun State? It is a national consensus. There should be a change of guards in Aso Rock through a constitutional democratic process on May 29, 2027.”
The former governor accused the Tinubu administration of failing to deliver the dividends of democracy, insisting that the President is not invincible.
> “It is not cast in stone that he may not lose in 2027. Every effort being made to make it as if Bola Tinubu cannot be defeated is rubbish. He can be defeated — and I am working with coalition leaders to do that in the interest of the country,” he added.
Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin: “I May Dump NNPP”
Meanwhile, Abdulmumin Jibrin, the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, has hinted at the possibility of leaving the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), despite being a close ally of party leader Rabiu Kwankwaso.
In an interview with DCL Hausa, Jibrin said he is “old enough to take a stand” and could pursue his political future outside the NNPP if necessary.
> “Even the party itself said it is open to negotiations with other parties, so it is not necessary that I follow the direction of the party. I am old enough to take a stand on what is best for me,” he stated.
Jibrin, however, stressed that he would continue to respect Kwankwaso as his leader, even if they part ways.
