A social media exchange between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s aide, Paul Ibe, and Senator Adams Oshiomhole has stirred widespread reactions online after both men traded subtle jabs over political loyalty and perception.
In a post shared via his official X account on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Paul Ibe took a swipe at the former APC national chairman, saying Oshiomhole’s recent remarks about Atiku stemmed from bias rather than objectivity.
“I have sympathy for Oshiomhole. He is tailoring sycophancy with a designer touch and has allowed himself to be consumed by the hate and fear of @atiku,” Ibe wrote.

The comment was in response to an earlier statement credited to Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the federal lawmaker representing Edo North, who during an interview with Channels Television reportedly said, “I have sympathy for Atiku. He has allowed himself to be consumed by politics.”
Oshiomhole’s remark appeared to criticize the former Vice President’s continued participation in Nigeria’s political landscape, implying that Atiku was driven more by ambition than principle.
However, Ibe’s rebuttal framed Oshiomhole’s statement as evidence of political flattery aimed at pleasing those in power.

The exchange quickly attracted responses from social media users, with many weighing in on both sides of the argument.
One user wrote, “A person wearing BAT insignia is someone who is telling another person he is consumed in politics. Shame is really lacking in Nigeria.”
Another user countered, accusing Atiku’s supporters of double standards. “There is no sycophancy when you and Atiku supporters wear his paraphernalia adorned with his image. Hypocrites,” the user commented.
