Remi Tinubu empowers 500 Ogun women

The Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI, the programme of the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 women across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State.

Speaking at the presentation of empowerment items at the Presidential Lodge, Ibara, Abeokuta, the First Lady stressed that no woman should be left behind in the collective journey towards inclusive national development, adding that the RHI would continue to serve as a beacon of growth and opportunity for women.

Mrs Tinubu, who was represented by the wife of the Ogun State governor and state coordinator of RHI, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, said the initiative covered agricultural empowerment, grants and soft cash interventions designed to help women start or scale up small and medium-sized businesses, thereby contributing positively to the economy.

The empowerment items distributed included chest freezers, gas cookers, ovens, generators and grinding machines to support businesses, alongside financial backing provided by the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The First Lady disclosed that the RHI had directly impacted more than 100,000 women and families.

“Since inception, RHI has impacted over 100,000 women, by our calculation, the number is still growing day by day,” she said.

She further noted that the initiative also focused on agricultural empowerment through the distribution of seedlings, farm inputs and capacity-building support to boost food production.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, said the initiative would continue to make women economically viable and independent, thereby enabling them to fulfil their potential.
