Wike working for APC, can’t decide for PDP – BoT member, Onyia

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, Ejiofor Onyia, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of working for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Onyia stated that Wike doesn’t hold any executive position in the PDP, insisting he does not have the power to decide for the party.

The PDP chieftain stated this while fielding questions on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday.

The remark comes shortly after the National Executive Council of the PDP zoned the presidential slot to the southern part of the country.

The party also ratified the appointment of Umar Damagum as the National Chairman of the PDP.

Speaking on whether the decision was favourable to the FCT Minister, Onyia said Wike’s position on the party’s decision does not stop the party from doing what the Constitution has provided for it.

He said: “You see, let me make it clear, we have a party, and we have executive of the party. We have the Constitution that guides the activities of the party. Now, as of today, the FCT Minister is working for an opposition party as of today, right? Okay, he’s not holding any executive position in the party, and he does not have the power to decide what the party does.

“So he can take any decision, react anywhere he likes, as an individual. But that does not stop the party from doing what the Constitution has provided for the party to do.”
