The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed three persons dead while an inspector is currently in a critical and life-threatening condition.
The development followed a clash between some alleged land grabbers and traders in Balogun Market, Lagos Island.
Reports had earlier emerged suggesting that the deadly clash was between Yoruba and Igbo traders.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the ugly incident.
The PPRO said during the clash, three persons sustained fatal injuries and a Police Inspector was seriously injured.
The three fatally injured persons were confirmed dead when they were rushed to the hospital by the Police, while the Police Inspector injured is in a critical and life-threatening condition at the hospital where he is receiving treatment.
The PPRO noted that preliminary investigation revealed that one Abiodun Ariori, CEO of Prosperous Ariori Golden Venture Limited, was connected to the deadly clash between the traders and the land grabbers.
He said Abiodub is “hereby declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command as all efforts to effect his arrest and bring him to justice has so far proved abortive. It is very clear that he has gone into hiding.
The police, however, confirmed that normalcy has already been restored in the affected area.
