
Armed bandits attacked Kafin Maiyaki community in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State on Wednesday night, killing a vigilante group member and abducting the wives of a local traders.
The incident was contained in a post shared on X by security analyst, Bakatsine on Thursday.
According to the report, the gunmen stormed the community in the night, targeting the home of Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai, chairman of the Kafin Maiyaki traders’ association.
His wives were taken away by the attackers to an unknown location.
During the invasion, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) was shot dead while trying to defend the community.
“Yesterday night, bandits attacked Kafin Maiyaki community in Kiru LGA, Kano State; they killed one VGN member and abducted the wives of Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai, chairman of Kafin Maiyaki traders’ association,” Bakatsine wrote.
As at when this report was filed, authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
