
The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed two victims killed in an unfortunate armed robbery and culpable homicide incident which occurred at about 06:30 hours on Thursday, 28th August, 2025, along the Rore/Arandun highway, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in Ilorin on Friday, “Armed hoodlums attacked the residence of a businessman, Mr. Oyetoyan Dare, during which his private security guard, Mr Wale Ajiboye, aged 40, was fatally shot while resisting their attempt to gain entry into the residence.”
In a related development, the same gang ambushed a vehicle conveying farm produce from Ora in Osun State. The driver, Mr Taiye Yebi, aged 38, who was unaware of the robbery incident, was fatally shot while driving past, while another passenger sustained minor injury, the statement added.
The spokesperson said police operatives swiftly responded, recovering expended and live ammunition from the scene, while the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue, and investigations are ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, has ordered a discreet investigation and reinforced patrols within the area to forestall recurrence.
The Command also reassured the public that normalcy has been restored and that the perpetrators will be apprehended.
