Speaking at a public forum on Monday, September 8, 2025, Dr. Adegbenro dismissed assumptions that the title has roots in Northern Nigeria.
> “Jagaban title is from where? Up North, many people do not know what Jagaban is,” he said.
He explained that the title, which has become a defining political brand for Tinubu, was originally bestowed upon him by the late Emir of Borgu. While the title carries strong cultural and political weight in the South-West, it remains largely unfamiliar to many in the North.
