Kwara govt changes venue of 2025 medical outreach in Ifelodun over insecurity

The Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, has approved the relocation of the 2025 Medical and Surgical Outreach Programme for Ifelodun Local Government Area from the Specialist Hospital, Oke-Ode, to the Cottage Hospital in Omupo.

DAILY POST reports that the change of venue is due to insecurity concerns raised following a bloody attack on the Oke-Ode town by armed bandits on Sunday morning, which led to the death and abduction of over ten persons.

The outreach, which is part of the government’s sustained efforts to deliver quality healthcare services across the state, will now hold on Tuesday, 14th October 2025, at the new venue.

Dr El-Imam explained that the relocation followed a review of security concerns in parts of the state, aimed at ensuring wider accessibility and improved service delivery to communities within the local government area.

The programme will provide free medical consultations, surgical procedures, and other essential healthcare services designed to enhance the well-being of residents, according to a statement by the Press Secretary of the ministry, Saad Hamdalat in Ilorin. on Sunday.

Dr El-Imam urged residents of Ifelodun LGA and neighbouring communities to seize the opportunity, reiterating the government’s commitment to safeguarding and prioritising the health of its citizens.
