PDP will reclaim presidency, dominate 2027 elections – Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will not only retain power in the state beyond 2027 but also reclaim the presidency in the next general elections.

Makinde gave the assurance yesterday during the PDP State Congress held at the Basketball Arena of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan. The event drew ward and local government executives, ad-hoc delegates, and stakeholders from across the state’s 33 local government areas.

The governor commended the party for conducting its congresses at ward, local government, and state levels in a peaceful and transparent manner, noting that such harmony showed the PDP’s strength and readiness for future elections.

He charged the newly elected state executive members to intensify efforts towards ensuring the party’s success at all levels, from local councils to the presidency.

Makinde also reassured members of the party in Oyo State who are yet to benefit from his administration that their contributions had not gone unnoticed and that they would soon be duly rewarded.

“I congratulate all of us in advance because in this party, no effort will be wasted. We will all share in the fruits of our labour,” Makinde said.

He stressed that the ongoing congress exercise was part of a deliberate strategy to consolidate PDP’s dominance. “The executives that emerge from this process have a clear mandate, to deliver PDP victories across all positions in 2027, from the presidency down to the councillorship level,” he added.
