Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has vowed to do everything possible to encourage eligible persons in the state to get themselves registered in the ongoing Continuous Voters’ Registration, CVR, an exercise organized by the Independent National Electoral Commissikn, INEC.
This was disclosed by the Governor’s aide, Dr Michael Abuo, who is the state Co-ordinator for African Union Development Agency/New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD),
He conveyed the governor’s message when he paid an advocacy visit to INEC in the State on Tuesday.
Abuo, who is also the State Coordinator for INEC-CVR Initiative, expressed readiness to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far by his team in the CVR exercise, to ensure that INEC realizes her mandate in the State.
He disclosed that the exercise remains dear to the governor, adding that no stone will be left unturned to step up electoral value in the state.
Welcoming Abuo and his team, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Johnson S. Alalibo assured the State Government, all political parties and other stakeholders in the State of the needed technical support and a level playing ground for all to succeed.
Alalibo said the commission will continue to play its constitutional role while maintaining neutrality to actualize its mandate in Cross River State.
Prince Abuo was accompanied by some EXCO members of Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON) across the State including the organization’s Secretary, Mr. Eta Ekong among others.
