NAHCON inaugurates Operators Screening Committee over 2026 Hajj

Ahead of the 2026 Hajj operations, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has inaugurated a committee for the screening of tour operators.

The inauguration took place at the Hajj House headquarters of the Commission in Abuja.

The committee, according to a statement issued by Adeshewa Rasheedat Kako of the NAHCON’s Information and Publications Division, comprises management staff of the Commission alongside other key members, including representatives from the secretariat.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman/CEO of NAHCON, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, represented by the Director of Administration, Alhaji Alidu Shutti, described the inauguration as an important milestone in preparation for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

According to him, the Commission has full confidence in the competence and capacity of the members to deliver on the crucial assignment.

He charged the committee to thoroughly scrutinize all documents submitted by intending Hajj Tour Operators seeking licenses for the 2026 exercise, to ensure validity, accuracy and compliance with international best practices.

The chairman further directed the committee to recommend slot allocations only to qualified and competent operators.

“You are expected to submit your recommendations to the leadership of the commission for approval or otherwise, and produce a comprehensive report of your findings at the end of the exercise,” he said.

He equally reminded the committee of the urgency of their task, stressing that the assignment must be completed within one week in line with the deadline set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for the 2026 operations.

While officially inaugurating the committee through the Director of Administration, the NAHCON boss urged the members to carry out their responsibilities diligently, objectively, and in strict adherence to laid down guidelines.

He prayed for the success of their work, expressing optimism that their efforts would contribute significantly to the smooth conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations.
