UCL: ‘It’s a mess, you’re playing basketball’ – Carragher blasts Liverpool

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has slammed his old club following their UEFA Champions League 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray on Tuesday.

The Englishman labelled Arne Slot’s side a ‘mess’, adding that they are not playing football but basketball.

Recall that Victor Osimhen’s first-half penalty saw Galatasaray defeated Liverpool at Rams Park.

However, Carragher was not pleased with the performances of the Reds against the hosts.

“I don’t feel like I am watching a top team,” Carragher told CBS Sports.

“Liverpool are not playing football right now, they are playing basketball, and it’s just end to end.

“Liverpool went from a workmanlike team, and they have sprinkled a little bit of stardust on that with the transfers that they brought in.

“They have not gained anything going forward but they have lost a lot defensively

“Last season was such a smooth ride but now [Slot] he is got to really earn his money because they are a few problems that need to be fixed.

“Liverpool [need to] get back to where they were last season and then go from there and try and build some confidence and defensive solidity because right now it is a mess.”
