UCL: Maresca speaks on Garnacho’s performance after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Benfica

Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca has commented on winger, Alejandro Garnacho’s performance following the Blues’ UEFA Champions League 1-0 win against Benfica on Tuesday.

Chelsea defeated Benfica at Stamford Bridge, thanks to Richard Rios’ own-goal after Garnacho crossed the ball into the visitors’ penalty box.

Asked about the Argentine’s performance against Jose Mourinho’s side, Maresca said the 21-year-old was very good.

“Alejandro was very good today. Not only on the ball but defensively, he was very good in the way he pressed,” Maresca said at his post-match interview.

“In the last third, he has freedom to go one-on-one when he decides. Arriving in the box is important because it’s from there that we score. I was pleased with him.”

Garnacho joined Chelsea from Premier League rivals Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

He will now hope to continue his impressive display for Maresca’s side when they face Liverpool in the Premier League in their next match on Saturday.
