UCL: Take him out – Carragher names Liverpool player Slot should drop from squad

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has urged manager, Arne Slot to take Florian Wirtz out of his starting XI.

Carragher spoke after Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray on Tuesday night.

According to the Englishman, the balance of the Reds’ team is not right with Wirtz in the lineup.

Recall that Wirtz featured as Victor Osimhen’s first-half penalty goal gave Galatasaray the win over the Premier League champions at Rams Park.

“Right now, I don’t think the balance of the team is right, and the obvious one that stands out is Florian Wirtz – he’s just not at the races at all,” Carragher told CBS Sports.

“He’s a young boy coming into a new league, and he has plenty of time to go as a Liverpool player, but right now I think he needs to come out of the team. The manager needs to fix it.”

Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window.
