Two aircrafts operated by Endeavor Air, a regional carrier under Delta Airlines, collided on Wednesday night at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, officials have confirmed.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the incident happened at 9:58 p.m. (0158 GMT, Thursday) when one jet was landing and the other was preparing for takeoff.
Emergency responders reported that one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. Delta later clarified that a flight attendant suffered a minor injury.
Photographs circulating in U.S. media, though not independently verified, showed visible damage to the nose of one of the aircraft.
Despite the collision, LaGuardia, one of the busiest airports in the United States, continued operations without disruption, the port authority noted.
Delta, which owns Endeavor Air, described the incident as “a low-speed collision during taxi” and confirmed that both planes together carried 93 passengers and crew.
The airline said in a statement that it would “work with all relevant authorities to review safety protocols.”
Preliminary findings indicate that the wing of the plane taxiing for departure to Roanoke, Virginia, struck the fuselage of an aircraft that had just landed.
