Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA (OPFY) have foiled several terrorist attacks, killed two fighters and rescued kidnapped victims in separate operations across Sokoto and Kebbi States.
This was contained in a post shared on X by securityanalyst, Zagazola Makama, on Thursday.
According to him, troops of 8 Division Garrison moved quickly around 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 30 after terrorists attacked fishermen near Modachi village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto. The gunmen fled immediately after sighting the soldiers.
In another incident, about an hour later, troops responded to an attack in Bargaja village, also in Isa LGA, where the terrorists had killed one local. Three other residents were rescued during the operation.
“Later in the evening, troops of 1 Brigade clashed with terrorists around Makurdi and Nasarawa villages in Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi.
“The soldiers ambushed the criminals along the Salka–Kinke–Makurdi road, killing two of them and recovering arms and ammunition, including seven AK-47 magazines, 180 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and two motorcycles,” Makama wrote.
Makama added that eight kidnap victims who had scattered for safety during the gun battle were later rescued by the troops.
