Dangote may start buying filling stations in Nigeria, other West African countries – Kalu Aja

A financial analyst, Kalu Aja, has predicted that Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, may consider buying filling stations in Nigeria and other West African countries.

He made the claims in a statement on his X account on Thursday.

According to him, Dangote’s possible acquisition of filling stations would be part of the next move of his 650,000-barrel-per-day Dangote Refinery after its recent Fuel Distribution Initiative.

“Watch out: I predict Dangote starts buying filling stations in West Africa.

“What we’re witnessing is the latest salvo in the horse lobby’s fight against the new car industry,” he stated on X, Thursday.

Meanwhile, Dangote Refinery has not announced any plan to buy filling stations as of filing the report.

Aja’s comment comes as Dangote Refinery on September 15th, 2025, began its fuel and diesel distribution nationwide.

The 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery had announced that it had invested N720 billion on compressed natural gas trucks to begin fuel distribution nationwide.

The scheme was rejected by major players in the country’s downstream oil sector because of its disruptive nature.
