2025 U-20 W/Cup: Flying Eagles edge Saudi Arabia in five-goal thriller

Flying Eagles of Nigeria got their campaign back on track at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup after a dramatic 3-2 win over Saudi Arabia.

Nasiru Salihu gave Nigeria the lead from a superb header in the 10th minute.

Aliyu Zubairu’s side had another opportunity to double their lead a few minutes later but Kparobo Ariehi’s goal bound shot was saved by the Saudi goalkeeper.

Saudi Arabia equalised through Amar Al Yuhaybi on 21 minutes.

The Flying Eagles regained the lead in the 38th minute through right-back Amos Ochoche, who fired home from inside the box.

Saudi Arabia however restored parity five minutes after the break courtesy of substitute Talal Haji’s wonderful header.

Nigeria got the winning goal deep into stoppage with captain Daniel Bameyi firing home from the spot.

The seven-time African champions climb to third position in Group F with three points from two games.

Colombia and Norway top the standings with four points each.

The Flying Eagles will take on Colombia in their last group game on Sunday morning.
