UCL: Chris Sutton blasts Guardiola for causing Man City massive problem

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has criticized Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola for causing a “massive problem” in the Cityzens’ UEFA Champions League 2-2 draw against Monaco in mid-week.

Recall that goals from Erling Haaland, Jordan Teze, and Eric Dier ensured both teams drew.

Man City dominated possession and chances against the French Ligue 1 side, but they could not turn that into another three points.

In the second half, Guardiola opted to substitute Jeremy Doku off for Savinho, despite the Belgian winger looking a threat on the wing.

However, Sutton was not pleased with Guardiola’s decision as he insisted that the Spaniard should have taken off Bernardo Silva instead.

Speaking on BBC Sport’s Football Daily, Sutton said: “Why is he [Guardiola] playing him [Silva] out wide? For the life of me, I don’t know why Pep took Jeremy Doku off and kept Bernardo Silva on.

“I am not saying he is a liability out there, but he doesn’t have the ability to go past a full-back. That is a massive problem.”

Man City will face Brentford in the Premier League in their next game on Sunday.
