Lagos man arraigned over alleged sexual assault of teenage boy

A 28-year-old Lagos trader, Okonkwo Chikwado, has been arraigned before the Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage boy.

Chikwado, who resides at 2, Asake Street, Ishashi, Lagos, is facing one count of sexual assault.

The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the incident took place on July 14 at the defendant’s residence.

According to him, the defendant allegedly called the 15-year-old victim into his room under the pretext of sending him on an errand.

However, once the boy entered, Chikwado was said to have locked the door and sexually assaulted him.

Ademigbuji noted that the alleged offence contravened Section 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015, which prescribes penalties for sexual offences.

Chief Magistrate L. A. Owolabi did not take the defendant’s plea. He ordered that Chikwado be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.

The case was adjourned until October 22 for mention.
