Kemi Badenoch unveils ‘radical borders plan,’ targets deportation of 150,000 illegal migrants annually

The Leader of the UK Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has unveiled an ambitious immigration overhaul dubbed the “Radical Borders Plan,” pledging to deport 150,000 illegal migrants every year as part of what she described as Britain’s “toughest border reforms in history.”

In a video message released via her official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Badenoch announced the creation of a new Removals Force, modeled after the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, to tackle illegal migration head-on.

“My message is simple, if you are in the UK illegally, you will be detained and deported,” Badenoch declared.

The opposition leader sharply criticised both past Conservative and Labour governments, accusing them of allowing Britain’s border system to collapse under the weight of illegal crossings and mismanaged asylum policies.

“Labour promised to smash the gangs,” she said. “Instead, they delivered record small boat crossings, over 50,000 illegal arrivals, 32,000 people in asylum hotels, and billions of pounds wasted. It’s pure weakness.”

Badenoch’s proposed reforms outline a dramatic shift in the UK’s migration policy.

The plan calls for an immediate ban on asylum claims from illegal entrants, the withdrawal of the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), and the repeal of the Human Rights Act.

The proposal also includes deporting all illegal arrivals within seven days, removing legal barriers to mass deportations, and imposing visa sanctions on countries that refuse to accept their nationals back.

According to Badenoch, the plan would “end the asylum hotel industry,” save billions in taxpayer funds, and restore public trust in Britain’s border system.

“Only the Conservatives have the courage and clarity to fix this,” she asserted. “If you come here illegally, you will be deported.”

Badenoch’s announcement comes amid mounting public pressure on the government to reduce illegal migration and after months of criticism over the rising number of small boat crossings across the English Channel.
