No fewer than two people have lost their lives as a result of an accident that occurred at Idi Ayunre, along the Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan Road.
The incident, according to sources, occurred on Saturday.
It was learnt that a trailer belonging to Kulum Quarry, located at Olohunde Ige Village, lost control and crushed three people.
One of the victims died on the spot, while the remaining two were rushed to the hospital.
It was learnt that the second person later died in the hospital, while the limb of the third victim was amputated.
This prompted some angry youths in the area to stage a protest and barricade the road.
However, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, who visited the area on Monday, appealed for calm.
Olatunji, while addressing the gathering, assured that his administration would leave no stone unturned to bring the driver to book.
He also explained that he would work to ensure that the company compensates the families of the victims.
Olatunji further appealed to the youths of the area to remain calm and advised them to desist from any act of indiscipline.
He said, “This is another avoidable tragedy. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. No one should lose their loved ones in such a cruel manner, especially when it could have been prevented.
“We understand your anger, but we must handle this responsibly. I assure you, justice will be served.”
