The Rivers State Head of Service, Inyingi Brown, has attributed the fire that gutted the Podium Block at the Rivers State Secretariat to an electrical fault, based on preliminary investigations.
Speaking to journalists, Brown advised civil servants to always switch off electrical appliances before leaving their offices to prevent future incidents.
She commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for rehabilitating the Rivers State Fire Service, noting that the situation could have been worse without their timely response.
The Head of Service also assured that Governor Fubara would, in the coming days, announce further actions to be taken regarding the fire incident.
She further clarified that the fire did not affect the Pension Board as earlier speculated, but noted that the Civil Servants Clinic was affected.
