The Big Brother Naija Season 9 reunion kicked off with fireworks on Monday night as former housemates and ex-lovers, Zion and Chinwe, confronted each other over the real reason behind their breakup.
Tensions rose after Zion claimed he ended their relationship because their life goals no longer aligned.
“I basically ended things [broke up with Chinwe],” Zion stated. When host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu asked why, Zion explained: “Because I felt like we were moving in different places in our lives; how she let it play out.”
Chinwe, however, rejected his explanation, insisting it wasn’t true. “What Zion will not do is sit here and lie on me now,” she said. Zion then asked, “How did I lie on you?”
Chinwe responded: “You could have owned the narrative, my love. What do you mean you broke up with me?”
She went on to recount a specific incident, revealing that Zion went clubbing all night before her scheduled trip, despite her request that he come home and spend time with her.
According to Chinwe, he turned off his phone, and when he eventually came back the next day, he claimed he couldn’t get a ride at the time, even though he passed by her area on his way to a friend’s house.
Chinwe also revealed that Zion’s family and friends disliked her because she mentioned during the show that she sponsored him to get into Big Brother Naija.
