Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has said they might not retain their Premier League title because of how open the team is.
Carragher was speaking on Sky Sports after the Reds opened the new season with a thrilling 4-2 win over Bournemouth on Friday night.
Hugo Etikike grabbed his debut goal for Liverpool after running through to calmly slot the ball past Petrovic.
Etikike then set up Cody Gakpo at the start of the second half to double their lead.
But Antoine Semenyo, who was racially abused in the first half, netted a brace, including a stunning solo effort.
However, there was no stopping Liverpool from securing three points in front of an emotional Anfield.
Substitute Federico Chiesa bundled in the Reds’ third goal, before Mohamed Salah continued his record of scoring on the opening day with a late strike.
Carragher said: “Liverpool will score a lot and they will concede a lot too They might be the most entertaining side in the Premier League. But that is not something I hope for, because if they perform like that it will be very difficult for them to retain their crown.
“But for me they are far too open and vulnerable to the counter-attack. There is something that needs fixing.”
