Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred up online conversations following a recent post addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges. In his message, Edochie appealed directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling for the return of the cashless policy that was previously enforced in 2023.

According to the actor, the policy had a significant impact on the nation’s economy by strengthening the Naira and reducing the prices of goods and services to more manageable levels. He urged the president to consider reintroducing the initiative to stabilize the current economic climate.

Edochie’s remarks, however, sparked a wave of reactions on social media. While some agreed with his sentiments, others accused him of subtly seeking political favor or aligning himself with those in power. The post has since ignited debates over the effectiveness of the past policy and the sincerity of the actor’s intentions.

“To my leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR @officialasiwajubat. I humbly suggest you bring back the cashless policy. When it was introduced by the previous administration, it increased the value of the naira tremendously. It helped to bring down prices of goods and it made 5 naira, 10, 20 and 50 naira notes regain value.”

“The cashless policy also helped to reduce kidnapping massively. Consider it again Sir. Thank you Your Excellency.”
