Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface has revealed the warning he gave Fernabahce boss, Jose Mourinho before his worst defeat as a manager.
Eleven years after a 5-0 loss to Barcelona while in charge of Real Madrid, Mourinho suffered another heavy defeat as his AS Roma team were thrashed 6-1 against Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Conference League group stage in 2021.
Boniface was playing for Bodo/Glimt at the time when Mourinho took his AS Roma team to Norway for the encounter.
Speaking recently on The Culture League Podcast, Boniface said: “I played in Norway, one of the coldest countries in the world. I played for Bodø/Glimt — the city is too small.
“Mourinho came to the pitch, walked inside, took his phone, recorded everything and posted: ‘This is the situation, we’re about to play, very cold.’
“He posted it. I commented on that same post because I did not know I would be at this level today. I said to him, ‘You never see anything.”
