Three family members shot as vigilante misfires in Katsina

Three members of the same family have been hospitalized after they were hit by bullets from a vigilante’s accidental gun discharge in Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, revealed the incident in a post on his X handle on Wednesday.

According to him, the incident happened on Monday afternoon at Gidan Mutum Daya when the vigilante, identified as 35-year-old Tukur Mustapha of the Community Watch Corps, mistakenly fired his weapon.

The victims were named as 28-year-old Murja Lawal, her two-year-old daughter, Anisa, and her younger brother, 26-year-old Abba Lawal.

“All three sustained leg injuries and were rushed to the Katsina Teaching Hospital for treatment,” Makama said.

Zagazola added that the suspect fled the scene after the shooting, while efforts are being made to arrest him.
