Why Nigerian govt must not neglect education — Emeka Offor

Sir Emeka Offor, a popular Nigerian oil magnate, has explained why all levels of government in Nigeria must not relegate education to the background.

He noted that education remains the springboard to economic prosperity.

He disclosed this on Wednesday during a book presentation in Abuja written by a popular Nigerian journalist, Ismail Omipidan.

Emeka Offor’s Chief of Staff, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Chris Ezike, said a single book can train a generation because books represent the bank of knowledge.

Consequently, he announced plans to distribute copies of Omipidan’s book titled Persona Non Grata across Nigerian universities to aid knowledge sharing and boost education.

“One book can train a generation because books represent the bank of knowledge. Our founder believes in the power of books, and this is why Persona Non Grata will be part of our national distribution to universities and colleges of education,” Ezike said.

Omipidan, while responding to Ezike’s commendation, described Offor’s support as “a powerful endorsement of the effort to tell Nigeria’s story of courage, resilience, and consistency through the lens of a journalist.”

The book, published recently, chronicled Omipidan’s journey through journalism and politics.
