Abia State government, through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has extended its ongoing revalidation exercise to August 29, 2025.
It warned that any private school that failed to be captured in the revalidation would be shut down immediately without any option for appeal.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary education, Goodluck Ubochi gave the warning in a statement he issued on Tuesday.
He said that the revalidation was completely free of charge as the schools would not be extorted.
“Note: Any private school in Abia State that fails to be captured in the ongoing revalidation exercise will be shut down immediately with no room for appeal”, Ubochi warned.
He made it clear that private schools should not pay a dime to anyone within or outside the Abia State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
A source in the education sector in Umuahia informed DAILY POST that some private schools in the cities of Umuahia and Aba were still avoiding the revalidation exercise, for undisclosed reasons.
He opined that they may be afraid of close monitoring by the state government.
