The African Democratic Congress Democratic Party, ADC, in Kaduna State says it has not entered into a coalition with the Social Democratic Party, SDP, ahead of the August 16, 2025, bye-election in the Kajuru/Chikun Federal Constituency/Zaria and Sabon Gari Constituency.
ADC completely distanced itself from reports claiming it has entered into a coalition with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the August 16, 2025, bye-election in the state.
A statement signed by the State Chairman, Ahmad Tijjani Mustapha, alleged that Nasiru El-Rufai is neither a member nor an official of the ADC, saying that the statement suggesting that his party, the SDP, had formed an alliance with the ADC.
ADC described this as false and attributed it to an attempt to mislead the public.
The statement explained, “ADC in Kaduna State and SDP is not into any coalition nor in any alliance with any political party in Kaduna State. There is no any official political alliance or coalition between the two political parties either written or verbal.”
The ADC chairman urged the public to disregard the misleading statement, warning that such actions could undermine the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.
He also explained that the incident would be reported to the appropriate authorities, as it contravenes the party’s constitution, stressing that the ADC constitution clearly stated that no individual or member will belong to two political parties.
He urged residents for Chikun/Kajuru House of Representatives, Zaria Kewaye and Basawa State Assembly bye-elections to ignore the “false claims” and come out en masse to vote only ADC candidates.
He also appealed to party members not to be distracted but to remain law-abiding and comply with all Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regulations before, during, and after the elections.
