Bob Emmanuel Shades South-East Nollywood Actors

In a recent interview, Emmanuel said he often laughs at his colleagues in the region because most of them never studied Theatre Arts before venturing into Nollywood.

> “I laugh at most of my colleagues in the South-East because none of them studied Theatre Arts,” Emmanuel said.

The actor argued that while natural talent is valuable, formal training in theatre provides depth, discipline, and mastery of the craft. According to him, many Nollywood actors rely on improvisation or mimicry, without a proper grasp of dramatic techniques.

> “It is not enough to have a fine face or mimic accents; true acting goes beyond that. You need to understand character development, dramatic techniques, and the psychology of performance,” he added.

Bob Emmanuel contrasted his own career path, noting that his training in theatre arts helped him interpret roles with authenticity and depth. He maintained that Nollywood would be stronger and more competitive internationally if more actors pursued professional education or workshops in the field.

His remarks have divided opinions in the industry.
