Hundreds of heavily armed political thugs have been arrested by security agents during the ongoing by-election in Kano State.
Kano State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Ambassador Abdu Zango, confirmed to newsmen that the thugs were moving into Bagwai, where voting was taking place, when the security agents apprehended them.
Zango also disclosed that some thugs around Shanono nearly disrupted the movement of election materials.
He said it took the intervention of security personnel to restore normalcy in the area.
Shanono is known to be a volatile area during elections but the REC said the presence of security operatives has ensured that the by-election is moving smoothly.
