CHAN 2024: Lawal disappointed with Home Eagles’ loss to Sudan

Former international, Dimeji Lawal can’t hide his disappointment following the home-based Super Eagles’ heavy defeat to Sudan, DAILY POST reports.

Eric Chelle’s side were eliminated from the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship after a shocking 4-0 loss to Sudan at the Amman Stadium, Zanzibar on Tuesday night.

The Sudanese scored twice in each half to record the big win.

It was the second time Nigeria have exited the CHAN finals at the group stage following similar experience at the 2016 edition hosted by Rwanda.

The Eagles have so far failed to hit the target at the current edition of the competition, and have let in five goals.

They will now play for pride in their last group game against Congo next week Tuesday.

Lawal urged the players to get a win against the Congolese.

“I’m really disappointed that Nigeria will not progress beyond the group stages of this CHAN tournament. The boys can only play for pride in their next game against Sudan,” Lawal declared.
