Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of his colleague, Tom Njemanze, who passed away recently following a battle with prostate cancer.
Taking to his social media page, Chiwetalu Agu mourned the late actor, describing him as more than a colleague he was a close friend and a source of inspiration in the industry. Agu noted that Njemanze’s contributions to Nollywood will never be forgotten, as his impactful performances have left a lasting legacy.
“Rest in peace Tom Njemanze. I am deeply heartbroken by the passing of my friend and colleague in the industry. Tom Njemanze you were more than just a colleague, you were a source of inspiration to so many.
Nollywood has lost a rare gem, but your legacy will continue to live on in the stories you told, through the roles you brought to life and the memories we shared. May your soul find eternal rest and may God grant your families and loved ones the fortitude to bear their loss. Sleep well Tom, God loves you more,” he wrote.
Tom Njemanze was known for standout performances in classic Nigerian films such as Pounds and Dollars, Issakaba, Atosa, and Osuofia in London. He passed away on Friday, July 18, in Owerri, Imo State. His death was confirmed by filmmaker Stanley Ontop, who had earlier called for financial help toward the actor’s medical care.
