American R&B star Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges related to an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub in 2023.
As reported by Sky News, the 36-year-old singer was arrested last month upon arriving in Manchester for a stop on his world tour. Following his arrest, he was initially held in custody but was later released after posting a £5 million security bond, allowing him to continue with his scheduled performances.
Appearing at Southwark Crown Court, the “Loyal” hitmaker confirmed his identity and entered a not guilty plea, responding, “Not guilty, ma’am.”
His co-accused, Omololu Akinlolu, 39, better known as Hoody Baby also pleaded not guilty to the same charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.
Both men additionally face charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, while Brown is also facing a separate charge of allegedly possessing an offensive weapon—a bottle—in a public place. Pleas on these additional charges have not yet been taken.
Court documents state that the alleged victim, Abraham Diaw, was struck multiple times with a bottle and later punched and kicked in a different area of the nightclub.
The case is set to return to court on July 11 for further proceedings.
