Edo Assembly confirms 4 new commissioners

The Edo House of Assembly on Wednesday, confirmed four additional commissioner-nominees for appointment into the state’s executive council, following a formal request from the governor.

Governor Monday Okpebholo had sent a letter to the House seeking the screening and confirmation of the nominated individuals for appointment into key positions in his cabinet.

The House had on August 20 confirmed Kassim Afegbua, along with seven others as commissioner-designates to serve in various ministries in the state.

During Wednesday’s plenary, lawmakers adopted the report of the House Committee on Rules and Business regarding the screening process for the five new nominees.

According to the report, four of the five nominees were present and recommended for confirmation, while one nominee failed to appear.

The confirmed commissioner-designates include: Vincent Osas Uwadia, Etin-osa Ogbeiwi, Saturday Uwuilekhue Idehen and Charity Amayaenvbo.
