Brighton have now informed Manchester United that they have no intention of selling Carlos Baleba.
United have made the Cameroon midfielder a top target this summer, amid speculations that he would cost up to £100 million.
However, in their latest conversation, Brighton have insisted they will not part with Baleba.
According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the Seagulls did not even quote a transfer for United.
The Red Devils are now expected to move onto other transfer targets.
Romano wrote: “Manchester United made official and formal contact with Brighton today for Carlos Baleba, as expected.
“Clear answer from #BHAFC: no intention to sell, not even indicating a price for this
summer.
“Man United now expected to turn attention to different targets.”
