Arsenal legend, Ian Wright has revealed the very matches the Gunners cannot afford to lose or draw if they are to win the Premier League this season.
Arsenal defeated Leeds United 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, being their very first home of the season.
Gyokeres got the monkey off his back with a brace while defender Jurrien Timber netted another brace in Arsenal’s rampant win.
Saka had earlier scored for the Gunners in the first half before being forced off in the second half through a hamstring injury.
Wright, a legend of the club, said he was impressed with the ‘patience’ the Gunners showed in the match and felt, in the end, it was a ‘run-of-the-mill’ win for his former club.
“If you’re trying to win the Premier League, you have to win all of your home games,” Wright said on Premier League Productions.
“Leeds coming here off of a decent win at home to Everton, they came to frustrate, and I think Arsenal had to be patient.
“Obviously there was the chance that Gyokeres missed early on, which was a little bit worrying, but then once Arsenal got control, got the set-piece going, it just looked run-of-the-mill and it was an easy game in the end,” he said.
Arsenal’s next game is away at Liverpool as they hope to maintain their fine start to the season.
