EPL: It wasn’t a football game – Liverpool manager, Slot slams Newcastle players

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, has hit out at Newcastle United’s approach to their Premier League clash on Monday night.

The reigning champions threw away a two-goal lead at St James Park, but ended up winning 3-2.

Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike gave the Reds a two-goal lead in what was a feisty encounter.

And although Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula levelled the game for the Magpies, Rio Ngumoha grabbed a dramatic late winner for the Reds.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Slot said: “I’m not too sure if I saw a football match today. It was set-piece after set-piece, long throw.

“It didn’t have a lot to do with tactics, what I said before the game, but I liked a lot how we stood strong.

“Very difficult first half hour, 45 minutes, but we didn’t collapse at all, we stood strong.”
