EPL: Man City would have sacked me last season – Guardiola

Manchester City manager, Pep Gaurdiola, has admitted he escaped getting sacked last season.

Guardiola has now claimed his relationship with the club’s chairman and sporting director, is the reason why he’s still in a job.

City have begun the 2025/2026 Premier League campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win at Wolves.

They will be looking to do better than last season, where they finished in third place, suffered defeat in the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace, and exited the EFL Cup in the fourth round exit.

Guardiola’s men were also sent packing from the Champions League in the first knockout stage by Real Madrid.

“I’m really pleased to sit here after a bad season,’ he told TNT Sports.

“If I didn’t have my chairman and sporting director like I have, I would have been sacked, definitely. Because the results were really, really poor.”
