Fire razes residential building in Ibadan

A residential building in Ibadan has been razed by fire.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred at Ilupeju community, Liberty Academy Odo-Ona, Elewe in Ibadan, in the early hours of Friday.

The destroyed building, consisting of three flats was ignited after a reported power surge.

Properties worth millions of naira were lost in the inforno, however, no life was lost during the incident.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.

He made this declaration via a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday.

He said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 02:23hrs on Friday 15th August, 2025.

“On getting there, it was a private residential building of three bedrooms flat engulfed by fire and the officers swiftly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to the nearby buildings and properties.

The fire was completely extinguished and it affected the whole building and nearby buildings and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the fire service.

“No casualty was recorded and fire incident was as a result of electricity surge which ingnited nearby combustibles”.
