The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kebbi State Command, has cautioned tricycle operators against overloading and other unsafe practices on the roads.
The warning was issued on Monday by the new Sector Commander, Rukayya Zakaria, during an event in Birnin Kebbi marking the 2025 Global Customer Service Week with the theme, “Mission Possible.”
Zakaria expressed concern over the increasing cases of overloading and mixed loading among tricycle operators in the state.
“I have observed that many tricycle drivers carry excess passengers and even place goods on top of their vehicles. I recently saw one carrying nearly 10 people,” she said.
She urged the operators to prioritise safety and adhere to traffic regulations, stressing that the FRSC’s enforcement measures were aimed at protecting lives and reducing road crashes.
“What we are doing is not for ourselves but for the safety of all road users. If they cooperate with us, we can minimise accidents to the barest minimum,” Zakaria stated.
Speaking at the event, the state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Garba Dan-Malam, pledged the union’s continued partnership with the FRSC to enhance safety and ensure compliance with traffic rules across the state.
