Gunmen abduct two brothers in cassava farm in Kwara

Two brothers have been kidnapped from their cassava farm by gunmen on Wednesday night in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The gunmen, it was gathered, carried out the attack at the Bokungi Zambufu community in Lafiagi Emirate.

A source explained that the gunmen, numbering about four, were heavily armed.

He said, “When the attackers stormed the cassava farm, they started shooting sporadically before taking the two brothers away to an unknown destination.”

The source further explained that no contact has been made to demand any ransom but said that he saw the military with two suspects and did not know if they were part of the bandits.

The Kwara State Government had enjoined residents in Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun Local Government Areas to be vigilant and restrict outdoor activities as security personnel intensify operations against kidnappers in border towns between Kwara and Kogi states.

The above-mentioned areas have come under a series of serious attacks of late.
