Heavy security as low turnout mars Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election [PHOTOS] 

There is low turnout of voters in today’s bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, DAILY POST reports.

The election is taking place in twelve electoral wards in the federal constituency.

Our correspondent reports that the election supposed to start by 8.30am.

It was learnt that the election did not start at the specific time in most of the units.

Our correspondent, who is monitoring the election observed that despite the fact that the electoral officers and materials arrived before the time, voters did not show up in some of the polling units at as 8.30 am when the election supposed to start.

A visit to Ward 6, unit 6 confirmed that none of the voters had arrived as at 8.26 when our correspondent left the unit.

Similar situation was observed at Ward 6 unit 21. The election has not started as at 8.30 am when our correspondent left the unit because none of the voters was available.

The same thing occured at Ward 10, unit 28 at old Bodija area. It was learnt that none of the voters had arrived when our correspondent left the unit around 9.02 am.

Our correspondent reports that the election started at Ward 10 unit 27 around 9.07am.

The election started around 9.10am at Ward 10 unit 11.

Our correspondent, however, reports that the election was characterised by heavy security presence.

It was learnt that security was beefed up in neighborhoring areas close to the federal constituency.

It was observed that there was presence of policemen, officials of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), soldiers around Apete, Ijokodo and Adamasingba.
