Support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s new Gaza peace proposal continued to gather momentum on Monday, with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and a leading forum of hostage families urging the international community to rally behind the plan.
In a post on X, Herzog congratulated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for working with Washington on the initiative and called on world leaders to press Hamas to accept it.
“Now the entire world must set a clear and immediate condition, that the terrorist organization Hamas agree to the plan set out by President Trump, and allow a future of hope for the peoples of the region,” Herzog wrote.
The Tikva Forum, which represents several hardline families of hostages and fallen soldiers, also endorsed the proposal, saying it aligns with their demand for the return of all abductees in one stage.
“The living will return to their families, and the dead will be returned to be buried in Israel,” the group said in a statement, adding that the plan guarantees the end of Hamas’s rule in Gaza and removes the threat it poses to Israel.
The expressions of support from both Israel’s head of state and families of hostages add to the growing international momentum behind Trump’s proposal, which has already won backing from France, Italy, and other European partners seeking a permanent ceasefire, the release of captives, and secure humanitarian access for Gaza’s civilians.
