‘Kachia Too Exists’ — Kaduna Community Begs for Attention After Deadly Raid

Residents of Kachia Local Government Area (LGA) in Kaduna State are crying out for urgent media and government attention as relentless bandit attacks leave trails of bloodshed, destruction, and despair.…….CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

On Sunday, September 7, 2025, heavily armed bandits stormed Wakeh village in Agunu District, killing at least eight people (later rising to nine), injuring over 20, and abducting several others. Survivors said homes and properties were set ablaze, forcing many families to flee in panic.

Community leader Rev. Fr. Agbo Gabriel described the situation as a humanitarian tragedy that has gone largely ignored by the media.

> “Kidnappings are happening daily, yet media coverage remains virtually absent. Where are the correspondents or reporters of major media houses in Kaduna and Kachia? Kachia too exists,” he lamented.

A Community Under Siege

Daily abductions reported in Ankwa, Bishini, Katari, and surrounding villages.

Kachia town, once a refuge for internally displaced persons, is now under direct attack.

Residents have endured over two years without electricity, relying on solar power where available.

Victims say the government’s much-touted “Kaduna Peace Model,” championed by Governor Uba Sani, has failed to protect them. While the governor insists insecurity has been “largely addressed,” the fresh killings paint a different reality.

Bandits’ Forest Hideouts

Locals identified Kamuku and Kuduru forests as strongholds for the criminals, urging federal forces to launch raids and dismantle the camps.
Rev. Fr. Gabriel also called for stronger community vigilance and collaboration with security operatives:

> “Kachia is a land of great potential and does not deserve such neglect. Our pain must not go unseen.”

A State in Mourning

The Kachia LGA chairman, Hon. Manzo Daniel Maigari, visited the injured at St. Gerald Catholic Hospital in Kaduna, but the state government has yet to issue an official statement.

With Kachia, Kajuru, and Birnin Gwari among the hardest-hit LGAs in Kaduna — a state that hosts 11 military formations — residents are demanding why the killings persist.

Placards during a protest earlier in the year captured their frustration:

> “The Kaduna government says it has made peace with the bandits, but we are being killed every day in Kachia.”

As funerals continue, the cries of the community grow louder:
We need your attention. Our pain must not go unseen.”…….CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
